The Heartland Corridor
The Heartland Corridor is a dramatic example of a public-private partnership delivering the economic and environmental benefits of enhanced rail infrastructure.
The Corridor increases the flow of consumer goods between the East Coast and Chicago by raising tunnel clearances on NS’ line, allowing the use of efficient double-stack containers.
The Corridor is a partnership between NS and several federal and state entities. Each partner contributes funds proportional to the benefits they receive.
Together they’re creating a competitive advantage for America.
